The Darkened River
濁流未清

The Verse
Rain clouds the river’s running face;its depths are hidden from view.Let the silt settle before you judge;seek clearer water before you choose.
Meaning & Symbolism
The Darkened River suggests that emotions, incomplete information, or competing interests are clouding the situation. Acting as though everything is clear can create avoidable mistakes. Give facts time to emerge and avoid adding confusion.
A Small Step
Separate confirmed facts from assumptions, delay irreversible action when practical, and revisit the decision after gathering better information.
A Moment to Reflect
What do I still not know, and how could I learn it safely?
Read Through Five Lenses
When a conversation is clouded by hurt or suspicion, avoid treating guesses as proof. Choose a calm time to clarify what happened and notice whether both people engage honestly.
Before reacting to unclear instructions or office rumors, verify the source and the desired outcome. Summarize agreements in writing to reduce future confusion.
Do not invest or sign based on opaque claims. Understand the underlying asset, obligations, and exit conditions, and walk away if key information remains unavailable.
Confusion is a signal to slow down and observe, not a demand to invent an answer. Allow uncertainty while you gather the facts that matter.
Practice saying “I do not know yet.” Curiosity and patient inquiry can replace the pressure to reach a quick conclusion.
The River After the Storm
After a storm, a fisherman found the river thick with silt and rushed to cast his net. He caught weeds and tore a seam. An elder helped him mend it and wait for the water to clear. The current had not stopped; visibility had changed. Patience protected the net until the river could be read again.
